Our history

The Consolation has been active on the island of Menorca since April 1891

A year later, on December 23, 1892, the Sisters of our lady of Consolation opened a home for boys and girls in Mahon (officially Maó), the current Calàbria workshop. This house for boys and girls continued its solidarity service for 10 years. In 1902, authorization was requested to convert it into a school.

During the years of the civil war, 3 classes were open in this school.

On November 18, 1923, the Ciutadella school for girls was inaugurated in Ses Andrones street. During the summer of 1960 some renovations were made to the building.

The current Consolation school of Ciutadella began to be built in 1967, and on September 15, 1971 the community moved to the newly-builded school to continue teaching Christian faith-based education. On July 12, 1972, the sisters discontinue working in Mahon teaching only in Ciutadella.

Currently the school has three educational levels: Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education, with more than 550 students and 40 teachers.
